Uses of Emergency Exhaust Systems

Automated Systems for Emergency-Response Teams. Emergency vehicle exhaust removal systems remove harmful diesel engine fumes and provide added features to accommodate the unique needs of the fire station. Emergency exhaust extraction systems are equipped with automatic / quick-release mechanisms for rapid exit from the station. In addition, emergency vehicle exhaust systems include the following specialized equipment to fit the various needs and layouts of fire stations:

(1) Track systems for single-lane back-in bays.

(2) Rail systems for drive through bays or bays where vehicles are parked in tandem.

(3) Vertical stack systems for vehicles with overhead exhaust stacks.

Facilities that can benefit from the use of emergency vehicle exhaust extraction systems include firehouses, airport and military fire stations and ambulance facilities.

Advantages of Emergency Exhaust Systems

  • Direct Source Capture. Connecting exhaust hose directly to the tailpipe allows all the fumes to be exhausted out of the building, protecting emergency response workers from diesel exhaust smoke.
  • Automatic / Quick-Release Features. Emergency vehicle exhaust removal systems require minimal operation by the workers and are designed to accommodate rapid exit from the firehouse.
  • Following the Vehicle Through the Bay. The exhaust removal system is designed to move with the emergency vehicle as needed, for back-in bays or drive-through bays.
